I started this mission after a time when I was a victim of multiple
health care events. I experienced two spinal surgeries, by-pass surgery, cancer and survived a life threatning pulminary emboli. I was fortunate I had insurance coverage for all of the above.
My group health plan covered the spinal surgeries, and following rehabilitation.
My health and critical care plans covered my open heart surgery, the subsequent rehabilitation while the critical care lump sum payout helped me cover my monthly bills while I was unable to work.
Having a Medicare supplement and cancer coverage helped me cover my chemo/radiation bills with the lump sum on diagnosis cancer payout took the sting out of the inability to work during this time.
I was beyond greatful I had these coverages each time I needed it. I had no warning that any of these health issues were coming. The cardiac issue was luckily caught by my primary care, my cancer showed as a lump on my neck. Two months later I was being treated with chemotherapy and 35 radiation treatments.
